SEND
Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo): Nicole Clark
SEND Link Governor: Melanie Pitt
At Bridgewater Park, we endeavour to provide the highest quality learning experiences for our children through quality first teaching - every teacher is a teacher of every child, including those with Special Educational Needs.
We recognise the importance of early identification of special educational needs to ensure all pupils are well-equipped to succeed and achieve their full potential. We promote early identification through a variety of SEND specific screening tools and procedures in place for staff to raise concerns at the earliest stage. It is vital that we are able to build on what the children already know and so every child’s attainment is assessed on entry to school. If a pupil has been identified as having a special educational need, the class teacher and SENDCo will use this information to:
- Provide starting points for the development of an appropriate curriculum
- Identify the correct provision and support for a child
- Use assessment processes to identify any learning difficulties
- Ensure ongoing observation and assessments and provide regular feedback about the child’s achievements and experiences to form the basis for planning the next steps of the child’s learning to secure good outcomes
Our Inclusive Approach
At Bridgewater Park Primary School, we believe that every child deserves to feel valued, included and successful. We are committed to creating a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.
We recognise that every child is unique and may require different levels of support at different stages of their education. Through high-quality teaching, carefully planned interventions and strong partnerships with families, we strive to ensure that all pupils can access the curriculum and make progress from their individual starting points.
We work closely with parents, carers and external agencies to identify strengths, overcome barriers to learning and provide the most appropriate support for each child. Regular communication between home and school helps us to ensure that children receive consistent support and encouragement both in school and at home.
Working in Partnership with Parents and Carers
We recognise that parents and carers know their children best and play a vital role in supporting their education. We encourage families to share any concerns, questions or information that may help us to better understand and support their child's needs.
If you have any concerns regarding your child's learning, development or wellbeing, please speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance. The class teacher and SENDCo will work together with families to ensure appropriate support is identified, implemented and reviewed regularly. We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are key to achieving the best possible outcomes for our pupils.
