Welcome to The Euros Class!

Mrs Platt is really excited to be teaching Year 4 and have a fantastic year full of interesting topics planned!

This began with our first topic, 'The Groovy Greeks', which focused on greek artefacts, the daily life  and comparing Greece now and then.

We then looked at 'The Angry Earth' and how Volcanoes and Earthquakes are formed and what impact they have. We are looked at how they happen and recreated our own volcano.

Now we are looking at 'Henry VIII' where we will crime and punishment in Tudor times, his many wives and the impact he had on the churches.

We'll be using this website to share lots of information with children and parents, including galleries showcasing our learning, letters and calendar dates.

Mathematics

  • Children will be weighing different ingredients for food in the Tudor times.
  • Children will be looking at identifying and writing Roman numerals.
  • Children will be looking at working out the marriage spans for Henry VIII in days, weeks, months and years.

 

PSHE

  • Children will be looking at the rule of law in Tudor Britain compared to modern day Britain as well as crime and punishment in those times.

 

Literacy

  • Non-fiction – children will be looking at creating a fact file for the wives of Henry VIII.
  • Description – children will be looking at writing contrasting character descriptions for Henry VIII based on different pieces of artwork.

History

  • Children will be looking at whether Henry VII was a successful king and why.
  • Children will be looking at why Henry VIII had so many marriages and who they were to.
  • Children will be looking at what happened during  Henry VIII’s reign (link to religion).
  • Children will be looking at what life was like for the Tudors.

Art

  • Children will be looking at designing portraits in the style of a Tudor artist.
  • Children will be looking at designing their own banquet that may eaten during the Tudor times.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Science – Plants

  • Children will be looking at how objects move on different surfaces and what impacts this.
  • Children will be looking at how magnetic forces can act on objects from different distances.
  • Children will be looking at how magnets attract and repel each other as well as how some materials attract and some repel.

Computing

  • Children will be using the computer tools ‘Scratch’ or ‘Pyonkee’ to create their own computer game.
  • Children will be planning a route around the country using maps.

 

Geography

  • Children will be looking at locating all of the different castles that Henry VII used, or resided in on a map.
  • Children will be looking at the structures of a Tudor castle and key features associated with them.
